March Meeting Minutes

EHNA March Meeting Minutes
3/23/10

7:06 meeting called to order, 6 people attending

Crime Report:
Officer J. Deary reported about the vandalism of the trees in our green space. When the trees were originally planted, the city paid for the trees but a volunteer organization planted the trees. The trees were cut off at the roots and left at the scene. From the appearance of the vandalism, it was probably an adult who committed the crime. It has not been determined who is responsible.

There were a few commercial burglaries at Walgreens, Circle K, and a few auto burglaries.

The police officer recommended that the best way to protect your home is with a motion light, keep trees around house trimmed, don’t leave things in your car, including your garage remote, and to install an alarm with a motion sensor and chiming alarm.

He was also happy to report that the crime at the Roberts Center has decreased.

Rays Stadium update:
A representative from POWW (Protect our Wallets and Waterfront), www.stpetepoww.com came to inform us of the current progress of the new Rays Stadium. He said that since the St Pete residents will be indirectly paying for the stadium through taxes, they should be entitled to a vote of whether a new stadium is built. Their goal is to have a question put on the ballot of the upcoming fall election. They are currently looking for people interested in going door to door and ask people to sign a petition to get the question on the ballot. If you are interested in helping with this it is a paid position and you should call Rod Moren at 727-525-6873.

Membership Drive:
The board members have decided to start going door to door in the neighborhood to meet the residents and inform them of our website for upcoming events. While going through the neighborhood we will invite people to a pizza party and tell them about our association. We’d like to meet our neighbors and share the types of events we’d like to have during 2010.

We will target one street at a time to share information and gather some email addresses and phone numbers.

Business Cards:
Create a business card with contact info and website for the organization to pass out during our canvassing.

Board Members:
We have officially decided to convert from an organization with officers to a board instead. The board needs 5 members to vote on neighborhood issues. The residents who have volunteered are:

Neil Beardsley
Joi Brunette
Maria Ferraro
Diana Fusco

Thank you for making this commitment to Euclid Heights! Feel free to contact us at our new email address: board@euclidheights.org

Also keep an eye out for our new and improved website.

Meeting adjourned at 8:10pm
