Euclid Heights Neighborhood

March Meeting Minutes

March 2009 Euclid Heights Minutes

710pm, started meeting (very low attendance, only officers and Diana)

Officer J. Deary read the crime report for the neighborhood. Criminal mischief and a few attempted burglaries. The Roberts Center will be having more lights installed in the SW corner and the gang unit and patrol have been increased.

We’d like to re-do the website to streamline out some of the old information, use Riviera bay civic association as example (www.rbca.org)

Neil attended CONA planning retreat. It covered lots of crime reports, what they will do this year, creating neighborhood plans, which include landscape, architecture, lighting and parking. Some neighborhoods that have plans are Euclid St. Paul and Old Northeast. CONA reps are some presidents, vps and people not officers.

Association dues:
We figured out that they were raised in 2007 and that the current rates should be $10 for single person, $15 for a family, and $25 for neighboring businesses.

The treasurer’s report was read and the balance is currently $1048.00, after giving Maria a reimbursement check and 2 membership checks from Kathy Crotty and Joyce North.

Neil also met with the mayor who suggested having pizza at the meetings to increase membership. See if pizzerias would sponsor in exchange for a few free pizzas.

Increase Membership:
go door to door to recruit members? Only have meetings with executive board who plans stuff?

Have social events in the months that we don’t have meetings such as Yard Sale in April and Pot Luck dinner in June?

At the bimonthly meetings we could plan the social events. How can we get people to the meetings? Website, phone calls, flyers?

Call existing members and those on lists to get email addresses, pay dues, see what they’d like to do this year

Could also create an online poll to find out why some members left? Time, money, or not interested?

We could ask associate pastor Andrew Conrad to announce our meetings at the church to have another way to contact new members.

Should we send out postcards? Approx 24 cents per card plus postage. Would we send it to everyone or just who we have addresses for?
Things we should do before next meeting:

Update website, contact member lists
Get signs from John and Randy and have a few more made.
Put a sign in front of the Roberts Center
Sort the Euclid Heights box and go through Diana’s member lists
Divide up names to call
Hold off on Yard Sale
Have an event in June to tell about

805 meeting adjourned
